In Spring, when the flowers are at their best, takes place the Flower Festival, one of Madeira's major attractions either for tourists or for locals.
It is a unique experience in which the main city of Funchal gains more shine. The perfume in the air and the multiple colors of dozens of different flowers create a magical atmosphere. Flowers rugs are made, exhibitions in several windows make this an event not to be missed!
On the 4th of May, hundreds of children lay a flower building a wall of flowers called 'The Wall of Hope'.
On the May 5th, a parade is made, people and vehicles are all 'dressed' of flowers.
